Programme Pathway

A guide to plan special milestones during your studies - from the first day till graduation.

Getting started

Welcome First-Year-Students! We want to support you with your first steps at Leibniz University and have prepared some informative events. You'll get additional information concerning your life in Hannover, at University and the organisation of your studies. Join the introductory events and meet your fellow students!

Welcoming events of the department Geodesy and Geoinformatics and the International Office
The mentors for international students is a group of senior students providing help for all new master students.

Requirement courses

It is possible that your admission was subject to certain conditions. In this case you'll have to complete the following additional courses within the first two semesters:

  • Concepts of Geodesy and Geodetic Methods
  • Introduction into Geodetic Data Analysis and Adjustment Computation
  • 3D Image Processing and Programming

The increased workload you will have to manage, will probably lead to an extension of the programme duration. Please note that unlike all other exams, registration for these exams will take place directly in the course and a regocnition of credit points cannot be granted.

Coursework

The allocation of credit points requires both an exam and coursework. Coursework is written or practical work that has to be done during a defined period, sometimes as homework.

Master's thesis

As a rule, the Master's thesis ends your degree programme in the final semester. It is possible to work on your thesis in coorpartion with a company, an autority or at one of the internation partner universities.

The Examination office provides the form to register for the thesis

Graduation

Once you have completed your studies, you have to deregister. Additionally a proof of returns is required. After graduation you may want to start your academic career or explore one of various job opportunities 'afield'.
