Purpose for data processing
Data processing is used to request the supervision of a student thesis from the institutes of the faculty via a web form. For this purpose, the institutes selected by you receive the data you enter in the form by e-mail.
Legal grounds for data processing
The legal basis for processing your data is Article 6 subsection 1 letter (e), subsection 3 GDPR in conjunction with §17 subsection 1 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG) in conjunction with the Regulations for the Processing of Personal Data of Applicants, Students, Examination Candidates, Guest Auditors and Former University Members and Affiliates of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover.
Obligation to provide personal data
You are not obliged to provide personal data, but we can only process your request if you provide us with the designated data.
Storage period
The data will be stored on servers at Leibniz University Hannover and deleted no later than three months after your request.
Recipients of personal data
Staff members of the institutes of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodetic Science, that assign student theses, and staff members who are entrusted with the organisation of studies (Dean of Studies’ Office). Your data will not be passed on to external third parties.
Rights of the data suject
According to Articles 15 to 21 GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data (if applicable):
- Right of access
- Right to rectification and completion
- Right to erasure
- Right to restrict processing
- Right to data portability / right to receive a copy
You also have the right to object to data processing at any time. We will then stop processing your data, unless legitimate grounds exist to continue or where processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims. Should you exercise any of the above-mentioned rights, the data controller will assess whether the legal requirements are met.
Right to complain
You also have the right to register a complaint with the regulatory authority, if you are of the opinion that the processing of personal data relating to you does not comply with the legal provisions.
